The Peace Corps is considered the toughest job you’ll ever love. It’s a 2-year-plus commitment, but first you have to get through the very lengthy application process. The average volunteer is between 18 - 65. Not exactly the stereotypical hippie image is it? Yep, Grandma is a Peace Corps volunteer too! Peace Corps was started in 1960 when Sen. John F. Kennedy challenged the students at the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. Today, there are more then 7,000 volunteers in 78 countries around the world.
